How To Clean Electric Razors

Many men will use electric razors because they are easier to use and they will usually not run the risk of cutting themselves with one. The main difference between these types of razors and the blade razors is that the heads do not need to be replaced. Blade razors have to remove the heads after each use and replace them with a new one.

With electric razors all you need to do is keep the inside and outside of head clean. It is important to learn exactly how to do this and to do it each time that you use it. If it is clogged up it will be harder to clean and it will not work properly. With the proper cleaning it can last for a long time.

  • Before cleaning you need to make sure that you unplug the razor. After this you need to remove the head of the razor.
  • Beneath the cutter block or head is a gasket. Look closely at it and see if you can spot any cracks in it. The gasket is used to keep the debris from entering into the motor. If there is a crack then dirt as well as hair will creep inside of it and you will need to replace it.
  • After removing the cutter block get rid of the debris and hair that is inside with a small brush. Most electric razors come with their own special brushes that make cleaning it easier.
  • Place the cutter block into soapy water or a special cleaning fluid. These fluids are made especially for electric razors and are sold separately.
  • Make sure that there is no corrosion on any of the blades or inside of the cutter block. Apply a contact cleaner to the contacts and use a white bond paper to burnish each of them.
  • After you have thoroughly cleaned and examined everything you can reattach the cutter block to the razor and turn it on. Spray down the foil gently with a shaving head lubricant. This will help to decrease the amount of friction between the foil and the blades. It is essential that you spray the foil down each time before you shave.
